Revamping old sandals! I have these old pair of blue sandal flats. Yeah..the one above. It's an ok design. And I've used it a lot. Now the blue piping has started to peel off in places...but I did'nt want to throw it out coz it was still in perfectly wearable condition! No point in wasting money and throwing out good footwear that still has some life in it. But at the same time I wanted to jazz it up a bit and make it more striking. So I rummaged around in my paint box to see what colours I had left over from previous projects. I finally settled on a two tone colour of carmine red and golden yellow. Keep in mind that these are acrylic based fabric paints and not water colours. I first cleaned my flats with a toothbrush dipped in simple soap water. I then let it dry a bit. Once it was semi-dry i painted the broad blue piping red and the two slim ones golden yellow. I did not bother to paint the underside of the broad blue piping coz it cannot be seen..all that twisting and turning to paint it did'nt seem worth it. But I painted both the outside and the inside of the slim pipings golden yellow...as they were seen. I then added an aztec design in yellow on the red..and I was done! Here's a pic below....
